A few of my favorite artists are listed below. Put your mouse over the images for some interesting tidbits.

The is the cover of a Beck 7-inch vinyl record that i have entitled Steve Threw Up. Did you know that Beck's first single was a song titled MTV Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack? "You came. You went.
My mind it got a dent.
I couldn't make my rent.
'Cause all my cash was lent
This town is filled with thousand-dollar bills
Laminated songs. Contaminated lungs."
Wilco's first cd A.M. On the cover is a picture of an old radio. Jeff Tweedy, founder, lead singer, guitarist, was in the influential band, Uncle Tupelo. "There's something there that you can't find.
Honest when you're tellin' a lie.
You hurt her but you don't know why.
You love her but you don't know why"
Rancid's legendary album - Let's Go. Lars and Tim used to be in the ska/punk band, Operation Ivy. "Radio Radio Radio Radio Radio Radio Radio
When I got the music, I gotta place to go!"
DC's first full-length acoustic album. The lead singer of DC used to be in a band called Further Seems Forever. "On the way home
this car hears my confessions.
I think tonight
I'll take the long way home."
This is a rare 7-inch vinyl release by Pavement that I own entitled Pacific Trim. They are sometimes referred to as the kings of indie rock. Pavement are now defunct. "Darlin' don't you go and cut your hair
Do you think it's gonna make him change
I'm just a boy with a new haircut
and that's a pretty nice haircut"
One of Sonic Youth's most-raw albums - EVOL (love spelled backwards). Totally original music. "Love has come to stay in all the way
its gonna stay forever and every day
it feels like a wish coming true
it feels like an angel dreaming of you"
Liz's first official release - Exile in Guyville. This album is said to be a song by song response to the Rolling Stones album Exile on Main Street. "And when I asked for a separate room,
it was late at night, and we'd been driving since noon
But if I'd known how it would sound to you
I would have stayed in your bed
For the rest of my life
Just to prove I was right
That it's harder to be friends than lovers
And you shouldn't try to mix the two"
Photo of Bjork. Bjork started her musical career in Iceland where she was a jazz singer by the time she was 13 years old. If you can, pick up a copy of her early record - Gling Glo. It's sung in Icelandic and is actually very good "I imagine what my body would sound like
slamming against those rocks
and when it lands
will my eyes be closed or open?"
Sebadoh's second to last album - Harmacy. It's my favorite album by them. Sebadoh are now defunct. "Somehow I don't trust you
I don't trust myself
And I may never forgive you
Cause I can't forgive myself"
Chemical Brothers second album. Features their biggest hit Block Rockin' Beats. "Sunday morning I'm waking up
Can't even focus on a coffee cup
Don't even know whose bed I'm in
Where do I start, where do I begin?"
"As a man, I ain't never been much for sunny days
I'm as calm as fruit stand in New York and maybe as strange
when the colors go out of my eyes, it usually the change
but damn sam i love a woman that rains."
Uncle Tupelo are often credited as being the creators of the alternative-country genre. Uncle Tupelo's alums include Jeff Tweedy - founder of Wilco and Jay Farrar - founder of Son Volt. This is one of my all-time favorite albums - March 16-20, 1993 "I am a moonshiner
for seventeen long years.
and I spent all my money
on whiskey and beer."
This is the cover to Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The Lips have been putting out some of the most innovative music for the past 10+ years. Their album, Zaireka is a 4-cd set and all 4 cd's are meant to be played at the same time. "And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round"
